There's Deer Park Water, a picture of a deer on the label. Fuck that! I don't want a deer pissin' and shittin' in my water! Spring water- you know what spring water is? It's a guy in Pittsburgh is his bathtub, fillin' those fucking bottles!

Everyone here is suspicious of the tap water because of the minerals in it thinking it's got Carbon Tetrachloride since the base where the university is located is a superfund site. The water actually doesn't come from wells anywhere near the chemical plumes anyway and is tested by the city monthly. They actually pull from a lower aquifer separated from the topmost by a layer of impervious clay, but of course the hippies here think it's a C-O-N-spiracy.

Yeah I don't buy bottled water anymore, although I do admit I grab them from time to time when we have a catered lunch. But then I usually use that bottle for at least a couple weeks before I toss it. I used to buy those massive flats of them at CostCo for things like camping and stuff, but lately I've been getting the two gallon jugs. I think I'll just go back to filling up my huge jug from the hose again.

I read something to this effect in an article criticizing Starbucks because they were touting some bottled water product that supposedly gave X cents per bottle to some environmental cause.

I use a Camelbak bottle. It's the same hard plastic as the Nalgene bottles but I don't have to twist the top to drink, and it uses those great Camelbak mouthpieces.

Sure would be nice if coffeeshops would let you use your own vessel for your beverages. Sell travel mugs with ISO certification and maybe blast them with sanitizer real quick before filling.

I've started drinking coffee but I hate going through all these non-recyclable paper cups.

I was under the impression that most chain places did do that. Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, etc.

Most places do.

And most truck stops sell refillable mugs, too.

I worked for a theater chain in the midwest for a while too that sold refillable soda containers (I think refills were 75 cents on what would usually be a $2.50 drink or something). If you were willing to splurge maybe an extra couple bux for it in the spring and kept seeing your films at their chains you could really save a lot of dough. The nearest clone of that out here is the reused popcorn bowls at the Red Vic movie theater in San Francisco, which kind of squicks me out because I'm not the one cleaning them (and I can SEE how dirty the theater is!)
